We’re into the second half of 2023 now and so much has happened, both at the workshop and on-track, this year with the Pursuit team and drivers!
July 20, 2023
Plenty of events have taken place across the Peter Auto and Equipe series’ this year and our drivers are reaping the rewards of their hard-fought races. There are 8 overall podiums, including a win at Goodwood members’ Meeting, and 10 podiums in-class under our belts, resulting in a current leading position in the Peter Auto Sixties Endurance Championship, with just two races remaining this season.
It all kicked off in Mugello where it was the debut for the Courage C65, which we recently finished recommissioning for DK engineering, taking 1st in class and 3rd overall in both races. It’s been a busy start to the year in Classic Endurance Racing 1 as well, with the 3 cars getting off to a strong start. There has been some bad luck along the way as we saw with the T70 at Spa where Rory was running 2nd overall and had to retire due to a puncture. The B8 took a 3rd in class at the end of the 3 races at Le Mans Classic, driven by Rod, and the B16 a 3rd in class in the last race on the Sunday. The 72 Cobra of Richard Cook and Harvey Stanley started as they meant to go on with a 3rd overall at Mugello, closely followed by a 2nd at Spa Classic and 3rd at Dijon. Really strong stuff from the dedicate team and drivers across the exciting Peter Auto season so far! We’re really looking forward to continuing to battle for the results for the remaining races at Paul Ricard and Estoril.
Not only has the racing been close in Europe but in the UK too across the Equipe series. The E-Type of Fred - in only his 2nd season of racing - has taken several podiums and is only one race away from his international licence. Andrew and Jonathan have also had some strong developments in their debut season with Pursuit, despite one or two setbacks, especially considering the run of weather the Equipe series has tackled so far this year! We’re looking forward to testing over the next few weeks and getting these cars and drivers in a prime position to take on the rest of the season.
Other racing highlights include a win in the 260 Cobra at the famous Goodwood Members’ Meeting, as well as a GT1 sunset demo with the DBR9 01: both unforgettable experiences!
We have been as busy off the track as on it with a number of Aston Martin builds well underway, including finishing the recommissioning process on the Drayson Racing 001 and 002 chassis. We’re also midway through the recommissioning of DBR9 GT1 Chassis 101. With at least two other builds to be revealed soon!
