A New Era for GT3 Heritage Racing — Revving into 2026

What began as a fresh formula back in 2006 has grown into one of the most beloved categories in global historic motorsport — and now, the early era of GT3 is stepping back into the spotlight like never before.

Peter Auto ushers in the GT3 Revival Series

In collaboration with SRO Motorsports Group, Peter Auto has launched the GT3 Revival Series, a new championship celebrating the first generation of FIA GT3 cars homologated between 2006 and 2013. This series marks the 20th anniversary of GT3 racing and gives historic racers and enthusiasts the chance to relive the golden age of cars like the Aston Martin DBRS9, Audi R8 LMS, and Mercedes‑Benz SLS AMG GT3 on iconic European circuits.

Designed with a competitive yet friendly sporting ethos, this five‑round calendar includes appearances at legendary events such as Spa‑Classic and Le Mans Classic, with additional rounds supporting GT World Challenge Europe at Paul Ricard, Nürburgring, and Barcelona — blending the best of modern GT racing weekends with a rich historic narrative.

Motor Racing Legends and the GT3 Legacy

Meanwhile, adding to the historic racing landscape, Motor Racing Legends continues to innovate its programme, featuring GT3‑era machinery within its ever‑expanding portfolio of classic grids. While MRL champions the celebration of motorsport’s broader heritage — from pre‑war machinery to more modern classic racers — the presence of GT3 cars highlights the ongoing reverence for the category within the historic paddock.

Whether it’s the roar of a BMW Z4 GT3 or the distinctive growl of a Ferrari F430 on track, GT3 cars have already become part of the collective memory for racers and fans alike.

A Thriving Historic GT3 Marketplace

The trend is unmistakable: interest in GT3‑eligible historic racing continues to expand, with more events, entries, and specialist initiatives than ever before. The growing marketplace for first‑generation GT3 machinery and the wave of heritage‑focused racing opportunities underscore how relevant and exciting this era has become for teams, drivers, and collectors alike.

For teams steeped in motorsport history, this evolution represents both a tribute to the past and a vibrant new chapter to embrace — one where legends of yesterday share the spotlight across Europe’s greatest circuits once more.

From our very first season, Pursuit has been trusted with the preparation and rebuilding of some exceptional GT3 cars. With interest in the category continuing to rise, this class of machinery is becoming an ever more familiar sight in our workshop.
